LIVE FROM NEW YORK: BRISTOL VALLEY THEATER’S SUMMER SEASON CONTINUES WITH SHIP-SHAPE COMEDY
NAPLES, NY (JUNE 2008)
Bristol Valley Theater, the central Finger Lakes award-winning live professional theater continues their 17th summer season on Main Street on June 26 with Rough Crossing, a romantic farce by Tom Stoppard.
“It’s high comedy on the high seas,” says Bristol Valley Theater Artistic Director, Karin Bowersock.
Set aboard a luxury ocean linter, Rough Crossing finds two playwrights scrambling to finish their Broadway-bound musical before they dock in New York. Complications arise when the glamorous and amorous leading lady rekindles a forgotten affair with her leading man and the dalliance is discovered by her current boyfriend, the composer, who threatens to abandon ship and abandon the play.
“It’s a hilarious romp,” says Bowersock, “and as our ship of fools is working on bringing a musical to Broadway, the show even features a couple of songs—with music written by the famed conductor and composer Andre Previn.”
The production will be directed by Dominic Orlando, director of last season’s highly acclaimed Lend Me a Tenor.
The cast includes Chris Handley, Tommy Labanaris, Ted Nappi, Mark Poppleton, David Shane, and Suzi Takahashi. Music Director for the play’s songs will be by Patrick Young.
Performances run from June 26 through July 6 at the theater at 151 S. Main Street in Naples.
